Several different types of bets are available every day:
Moneyline: A Moneyline bet is a wager on the winner of an event between two sides. This is the most common bet you'll find on the majority of sports, where a winner is expected on every event. On events where a tie is more likely to occur, such as soccer, the Moneyline bet may give an extra option to wager on a tie, known as a "1X2". For example: the Phoenix Suns are playing the Houston Rockets. A bet on the Suns to beat the Rockets is a Moneyline wager.
Spread: A Spread bet is a wager on a team's margin of victory. You can wager that a team will win by at least the number listed (shown as a "negative") or that a team will not lose by more than the number listed (shown as a "positive"). For example: the Spread on the Phoenix Suns is -5. A Spread bet here means you are wagering that Phoenix will win by at least 5 points. If they win by 5 or more points, your wager will win. If they win by less than 5, or lose the game, your bet will lose. If the Spread is +5, you are wagering that the team will not lose by more than 5. If they lose by 5 points or fewer points, or win the game, your bet will win. If they lose by more than 5, your bet will lose.
Totals: A Totals bet, also known as an "Over/Under" bet, is a wager on the total number of points in a given event. For example: in a game between the Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets, the Totals are 220. A wager on the Over is a bet that the two teams will combine to score more than 220 points. A wager on the Under is a bet that the two teams will combine to score fewer than 220 points.
